GU is passionate about making a difference across South Africa via goats, through breaking new grounds for and with the rural people to become farm business owners in their own rural areas. Farmers in South Africa not only face the challenges of securing land and funding but also obtaining the management skills and technical know-how to be able to run a farming business successfully in today's business environment.
In pursuit of excellence Goats Unlimited has entered into partnerships with various South African goat farmers and agricultural organisations with the aim to establish itself as a leader in the field of goat farming and training.
Intensive two-day training is focused on equipping trainees with the competence, expertise and abilities to be able to apply in practice what they have learned in theory.
DAY 1- Theory
DAY 2- Effective practical training
Training material will be provided including meals and certificates
Accommodation available on request at a fee.
Training covers the following elements:
1. Animal health
2. Planning and managing the breeding season
3. Managing the kidding season
4. Nutritional requirements
5. Day to day management issues
6. Infrastructure requirements
7. Breeding standards
The partnership also entails the conduction of farmer support days that will be open to all course attendees. This is aimed at establishing a platform for the attendees who have completed the training to voice their challenges and be mentored going forward.
